Syria: An Interactive Documentary
Unity3D, C#, Maya, Ableton Live
Learn about the conflict and humanitarian crisis in Syria by navigating through an immersive, nonlinear experience. Explore using images, audio, video, articles, maps and data visualizations drawn from a wide range of sources. These include material from traditional news publications, academic journals, aid organizations, while also leveraging information available through social networks and elsewhere on the web.
Syria: An Interactive Documentary is an exploration of a new format for news and journalism. It employs branching narrative, with the aim of giving the user agency while presenting content in a dynamic and informative way. At times, users will be prompted to make decisions that will not just alter their path through the experience, but determine the content they are exposed to. This encourages exploration while giving users an incentive to "play" through more than once.
